Anyone with T-mobile ever tried this?

I'm raising the BS flag on this one. Cell phones convert audio and data into radio waves for transmission (and vice versa for reception), not other radio transmissions.

Umm, doesn't the accompanying text clearly say it doesn't work?

That's the thing with chain letters, they'll claim it'll "only work with T-Mobile" because its the smallest network...who the hell actually knows 2 people on T-Mobile so they can test it out???

You didn't read the page you linked to?

It says it doesn't work.

But I already knew that, and not from trying it myself, but because I know intuitively that it's not technically possible.

My friend's aunt did this and it totally worked!

Actually, I thought this would be a clever hack where you hook a cellphone to a spare keyless entry fob stashed in the glove compartment, wired in such a way that ringing the phone closes the circuit on the unlock button.

I'm very disappointed.

As far as the claim that T-Mobile's network is "unique", that's bullcrap. It's GSM 1900. Just like every other GSM carrier in the US.

I can't believe that this story keeps going. All it demonstrates is how little most people really know about how electronics actually work.

That might actually be doable, but there would be no security. Anyone dialing that number would be able to unlock your car.

"My car stereo got stolen when someone dialed the wrong number and unlocked the door!"

Actually, my car's keyless entry system will re-lock the doors if one of them is not opened within 30 seconds of unlocking them, so it wouldn't be all bad. Way more trouble than it's worth, though :)
