I'm wearing rigid gas permeable contact lenses that runs $300 a pair. It's a PITA to maintain and expensive as hell if I lose one. I'm going to ask my optometrist if I can get PRK laser eye surgery but was wondering if anyone has any success/horror stories in regards to laser eye surgery and severe astigmatism.

Interested as well. I tried the rigid gas permeable for a week and couldn't stand them. I opted for the custom made soft contacts, but the best I can get out of them is 20-40. I been told by my optomatrist that lasik will never get me perfect vision either. 20-40 is the absolute best I can hope for. Even then, that's pushing it.

It was a godsend for me, especially after surgery.

Mine was pretty bad (although I don't remember what the measurement was) and Lasik cleared me up pretty good. My vision went to better than 20/20. I still have a slight astigmatism but nothing that I have to wear glasses for.

My dad's was even worse than mine. He was on the edge of being able to have the surgery and he came out better than I did.

The only way to know is to go in and get an eye exam. Lots of Lasik guys will offer a cheap or free exam to see if you can have the surgery. Start calling around.
