Pls call in.

I'm looking within two weeks to buy my first mecha; i've got a pretty good idea of what i want, i bought the mx switch sampler as well, i read deskthority thoroughly, but just recently a new switch has become available.

Now, i'm buying mechanical mainly for NKRO, as i'm tired of not being able to use my pistol (2) when sprinting (shift) on my otherwise fully functional rubber dome crapboard. However, since i dont have that much money, i'd like to buy the right kb right away, as i do remember fondly some friends' keyboards from the 90s who had that sweet "new keyboard" feel and "fff-plop" sound when you pressed the key ..

(which were obviously not mx; and who knows what they were)
But i like the sensory feel of the clicky switches; and i like as a gamer the shorter actuation of the blues, and the ability to rest my finger on them slightly pressed, to have an even shorter travel range.

Ok, so you say, just buy blues, mmk? Well, not so fast..here's the deal;

CoolerMaster is making a new tenkeyless with Cherry MX GREEN switches.

These MX are not available in the sampler, but they are tactile, clicky switches similar to Blues, but with a higher actuation force. Deskthority reports them as 65g if i'm not mistaken.

Anyway, i'm a big guy with big hands, thick fingers, and i'm not scared by the extra force - i'm typing on a sk-8820 and its plenty stiff from all the encrusted dust (work kb, cant even take it apart).

I also experience mistypes with lighter key switches, such as laptop kbs.
I'm pretty sure i dont want RED, they feel mushy, and BLACK feel like any ol' keyboard.

So;

if any of you used a BLUE switch, have you experienced mistypes, such as excessive repetition, or excessive bottoming out?
have you tried any o-ring mod, and which what results?
do you ever get the feeling that your blues could be a bit stiffer?

do you by chance play frenetic games such as FPSs, or arcade games with lots of multi-tapping?

I would also very gladly take the advice of any Cherry BROWN or WHITE/CLEAR and o-ring user.
Thank you in advance

I have Cooler Master keyboard with MX blue switches. I'm quite satisfied with the clicky sounds, my typing has improved, so I haven't experienced any mistypes (if that's what you mean), and writing on this keyboard is definitely something any fanatic would enjoy doing. I have to say, though, the keyboard is pretty loud, the switches that is.

I use browns because I don't need the clicky sound(too loud) or the high tactility. Some don't like browns because the tactile feel is too subtle but its ok for me especially when single tapping keys. Blues are not recommended for quick taps in games because the reset/actuation point is wide enough to be annoying. Thats the thing which you can't test in the sampler set. You really need to try out real keyboards somewhere.

If all you want is nkro or 6kro, why don't you look up gaming rubber dome keyboards like the gigabyte k3 or the cm devastator.

I use a Razer BlackWidow, but mainly for typing. For that it is the most pleasant experience I ever had. I also have a heavy hand and almost always bottom out when typing, but the spring resistance is enough to rest my fingers on WASD without fear of accidental presses during gaming. MX Black has even higher resistance and in practice it is a better frantic FPS gaming switch, but it's a one trick pony IMHO. I used both for extended periods of time (Black - Steelseries 6Gv2, Blue - BlackWidow) and Blue is more of an all-rounder. The separate actuation points do take some getting used to though. I also tried Brown for a while but found it to be way too light - couldn't comfortably rest my hands on the keyboard without accidental key presses.

I think that Blue vs. Green is pure preference. I use heavier switches myself (bucking springs). My experience with the Blue/Greens vs. the Red/Black/Brown switches is that some people like to "ride" the switches when they do double clicks, meaning they push just past the activation point, let it up only a tiny bit then push it again. This doesn't work on Blues/Greens because you need to let the key rise almost all of the way to the top for the click mechanism to reset. Personally, my finger completely leaves the keys when I double tap so I don't have an issue with this.

I also have a Blackwidow Ultimate, which has blues, and it's sitting in a box while I'm currently typing on my G710+ that uses browns.

The blues were extremely loud, which I could hear through my headphones while playing; not a big deal though. The missed keystrokes and multiple keystrokes however were a deal breaker; probably caused by Razer's crappy hardware and not the fact it used blues though.

I love the G710+ with browns though. Still has the tactile feel that lets me type far faster than I could with a regular keyboard, at about 1/3rd of the sound of blues, and never a missed or repeated keystroke (but again, that could just be Razer hardware issue).

I accidentally bought a Cooler Master QuickFire Rapid (MX Blues) thinking they were the same as my Das Keyboard Ultimate with MX browns... the browns are my choice for typing, but the blues are my gaming keyboard now. They're quite loud (typing on blues with my wife asleep in bed is not a good idea) but for games they're great. I don't see any need for increased actuation force, I don't accidentally press keys on the blues.

The blues are still quite a bit more "definitive" to press than any membrane keyboard I've ever used.

^I am fairly certain the G710+ has o-rings.

I've used Blues, Reds, and Browns with and without o-rings for quite a while with each. Personally, I love the Blues for strictly typing.

Currently, I have a DAS at home with Browns and I use it for gaming and typing. I used to have a Blue and it is a bit louder, but feels similar enough I switched without much notice. I don't have any problems with multiple keystrokes or missed keystrokes on blues.

Overall, I prefer Browns, but that might just be because I have adapted more to them than the others (as I've used them the longest). Reds I didn't prefer as much for the lots of typing I did. They just didn't feel as good as Blues or Browns.

I've got blues and browns. Overall I find I type best on the blues and use that as my daily driver because my browns are 10keyless and my current job finds me using the keypad a lot. If I didn't need the 10key I would use the browns, however. I just like the browns a bit more.

Make the decision based on sound. Do you want lots of clickity clack or a more subtle and quiet experience?

No - if anything, for gaming I'd probably prefer them a bit less stiff.
Sometimes.

Although I currently use a Logitech g710+ with browns I prefer the blues which my other two kb's have. The browns are too mushy to me and it's easy to accidentally press a key especially while gaming. I find myself ejecting out of aircraft in bf3 way too easily.

Have you tried a brown switch without an o-ring? That may not help the accidental keystrokes, but it should help with the mushiness I believe.
