My Athlon XP 1600 from newegg has an AROGA core. Its week 10.

Does anyone have an XP with an AROGA core? As long as it'll let me boost the fsb to 166 and stay stable, I'll be happy. I'm not looking to unlock it and change the multiplier.

I'm about to build this system and want to make sure this chip is good. I dont want to have to take it out and return it to newegg b/c it wont to 166 fsb stable.

I also got that core from newegg. I was kinda pissed becuase when I ordered it said it would be the agoia. I am running mine right now at the 166 bus and so far so good. I had to bump hte voltage to 1.8 cause at 1.7 it was not stable and would lock. Idle temp is 46c and after a few rounds of ut2003 it was like 51. This is with a super orb fan and 5 case fans. I am using pc2700 ram also.

So did you change the multiplier at all? or just the fsb?

That sucks if you need to bump up the voltage just to run at a 166 fsb.....

I got an AROGA 1600+ from Newegg a few weeks ago. POS. Don't know the exact stepping (haven't cleaned the AS off it yet). It would not run at 166 on my Epox 8K3A+ even with boosted voltage. Ordered another 1600+ and got an AGOIA 0204. It says 4xxxx... on the line below where it says AGOIA. I was ticked I didn't get the week 12 or 13 Y, however this chip booted right up at 166 MHz (with +.1 V). I am going to let the AS3 settle in for a few days then stress it a little to see how it holds up. Right now, under no stress, it's working fine at 166. Temperature at minimal load is 17 C above ambient at 166 MHz/1.85 V with a GC68.

Edit: Just cleaned off the AROGA. It's a week 12 Y.

Well, this Agoia 0204 is not stable at 166. Prime 95 locks it up almost immediately. As long as it's not stressed it's fine. But put some stress on it - forget it!
