Anyone with Asus P5Q able to us AHCI Mode??

I'm about ready to tear out this mobo and send it packing...

I am now having problems just after I choose install dir and I get an error saying it cant copy AHCI files..

Only thing I could do is skip and when winxp reboots I get BSOD

which is the same BSOD I got for 2 hours trying to use the Raid drivers, till I found I had to Tab Up to get the correct drivers....

I guess its too much work for Intel to pack just the drivers for the chip they use on this board.. They need to pack six plus chip sets........

Vista is a nice OS

You'll find it has all the major chipsets storage controller drivers built in, which means installing using AHCI is a lot easier; no F6ing needed.

For XP on the P5Q, i cannot say, i'm sorry, as i've not used XP for years now.

Have you tried slipstreaming the AHCI/RAID drivers into an OS disc yet?
I've done that in the past successfully for XP when being forced to run AHCI/RAID mode on OEM systems that have no IDE mode option, & no floppy to easily do F6ing.

Hi N7,
I tried F6, Slipstreaming and thought that had it but on XPs 2nd reboot during install it came up with BSOD.. Worked for first reboot not second????

With F6 I did not know I had to scroll up for AHCI driver I tried scrolling down so I tried to use Raid drivers and that did not work..

F6 with correct drivers gave me a error winxp can't copy driver files for each file..
I tried skipping files and BSOD..

If they said it did not work with XP I would not be so angy..

Come monday I'll ask maker for instructions and what they say..

May i ask why you need to use AHCI mode?

IDE mode is fine; you're not going to see any performance improvements with AHCI...in fact i know some people have found IDE gives better performance for them.

I read a few articals that said it does work better but just a little..

Why I want to use it is so I can use Acronis True Image for back ups..
I have been able to use a 2002 version of Drive Image but is super slow compaired to TI..

Then there is the fact I expect it to work which is maybe the main reason..
I have not read XP is not supported and if you want to use Raid I just read you have to use XP sp1 +

If I read it was not supported I would still be unhappy Acronis did not work but they dont say that at all...

Are folks able to use Raid or is that also a PITA ??????????
