Well, I´m certainly going to get a Mac Pro, probably outfitted with a X1900XT, now I´ll probably get a PC gaming rig too but I´m wondering if I can expect my Mac Pro to be a solid performer running games under Windows XP with boot camp, I´m mainly worried about driver issues for the vid card.

I also want to hear some opinions on running WinXP on Intel Macs, how close it is to running WinXP on an actual PC and what are the disadvantages and what do you lose running Windows XP on a Mac Intel.

Or if anyone could provide me with a link to a bootcamp forum or intel mac or something tht would be swell.

Thanks in advance.

Well it turns out that gaming on Mac Intels running Windows XP is very possible and the reviewers are very impressed, claiming an iMac running Windows XP ran games pretty even with similarly spec-ed PCs (laptops actually but still, the components are the same). They say Oblivion, F.E.A.R. and all games are perfectly playable, this does sound like great news, however this means Apple would have to update the WinXP compatible drivers for the mac graphics card often, otherwise we'll be stuck with old drivers, I emailed Omegadrivers to ask him whether or not we can expect Omega drivers to work on Mac X1900XTs running WinXP or if a patch/fix will be available.

Things look bright as far as gaming goes on Macs :) This is a perfect chance to get my gaming fix on a Mac Pro (which I'll buy anyways even if it does not play games) while I wait to to buy a PC gaming rig with DirectX10 and maybe even PhysX for Vista.

Yeah, I'd expect it to have exactly the same performance as a straint wintel systems since it essentially has all the same parts and software.

The only problem is drivers for the videocard, RAM and CPU should work exactly the same, but the mac version of the X1900XT is identical except it has slightly different firmware and it needs different drivers, thats the main concern since the GPU is by far the most important part in 3D games but Apple's drivers seem to work just fine (I think they are just regular Catalyst with a small fix).
