I'm thinking about getting my eyebrow pierced before I go back to school in September, anyone who has any experience with this kind of piercing, do you know what kind of time frame healing would take ? / Am I looking at having a gaping red wound for a few weeks or is it pretty subtle until healed ?

Thanks, Rob.

Thanks for pointing out to us old folks that you are a tool so we don't have to figure it out for ourselves...

Sure, think what you want, it doesn't bother me.

Anyway, yeah I would be very careful about keeping it clean, but I'm also worried about that with regards to starting school, I wouldn't want to go back having to worry about an infection in that area.

Hmm, thanks for the link also.

keeping piercings clean is easy - just get some alcohol solution of whatever they sell at earing stands and wash it every night.

Especially if you play sports - sweat+ick gets into the pierced skin and wrecks havoc

Good to note, thanks, I mainly mountain bike a lot so this especially could cause a problem with my helmet.

I have an eyebrow piercing...it's fairly new also. When I first got it, my eyebrow was bruised for about a week from the clamp...the guy even tried to make it where it wouldn't bruise me...but it did anyways. So, you should look forward to having a bruise for a week or so.

My eyebrow NEVER got infected...very weird from what I hear, as most people's eyebrows do. I used dial anti-bacterial soap to clean out the eyebrow/ring and then I used bactine on the eyebrow/ring after the soap...I did that 2x a day for about two weeks and then I started doing it once a week.

If you need any other info, LMK!

Awesome, thanks so much.

I'm curious as to if you are supposed to actually take the ring/barbel (havn't decided which yet) out when you clean it, or if it won't go back in after you remove it ?

Well luckily if you ever come to dislike it, you can take it out. But I admire people who can go throughout their lives without falling prey to trends and do not succumb to the pressures of friends and aquaintances.
Not saying that you are. I am just thinking about the tattoo, and the numerous piercings I should have never gotten.

I heard that it doesn't hurt very bad. Just make sure you keep up with the cleaning for the initial healing process (about first 8 weeks or so?). If it does happen to get infected, don't take the piercing out. You have to let all the lymph and stuff drain out first.

Some cleaning tips: Just make sure you clean it twice a day--once in the morning and once at night. Nothing harsh like alcohol or peroxide...not even Neosporin (use a sea salt soak consisting of 1/4 teaspoonful of deiodized salt mixed with 1 cup of hot distilled/deionized water). Don't touch your piercing or play with it. If you do plan on touching your piercing, make sure you wash your hands prior.

If you have any other questions, visit www.bmezine.com or go to your local piercer. =)

cheers,
KiM

Edit: www.bmezine.com is NWS in areas...so if you plan on venturing the site, proceed with caution. =)

For me this has nothing to do with friends or aquaintances, I just think it would look good and personally I would enjoy it.

A piercing will not be fully healed for over a year. So if you take out the piercing, it will most likely be closed up (in a matter of seconds/minutes).

I agree. Just because someone has a piercing doesn't mean that they succumbed to peer pressure or are just following a trend. Maybe they actually like the way it looks. To each his own, there are people that don't and people that do like tattoos/piercings.

Now I have a question: Do you have to wait until it heals before you can put the "keeper" thing in or can you put it in on initial piercing?

"Keeper" thing? If you're talking about the retainer, then I believe you can put it in after 2 months. Just make sure everything's clean and sanitary and all that junk. =)

Thanks, Rob.

If you're not getting some humongous gauge barbell or ring put in, the hole should be almost un-noticeable, I should think.

Healing will probably take a while, and the hole can still close up very quickly if you take it out too soon and don't put it back in. I'm told that there's also a chance that the barbell/ring/etc. may migrate or be rejected with eyebrow piercings, probably because there's not much flesh in that area to begin with.

Depending on the person, it can either look like crap or look good. I never did have my eyebrow pierced but I had my lip and tongue pierced for a while. I don't regret doing it, but I just got bored with it after a while.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. :D

Nothing personally directed to you Sabot, but I think eyebrow piercings look stupid on guys. I like the look on a woman, though.

I got one 4th of July weekend. It didn't really hurt, no more than you would expect for a steel needle shoved through your eyebrow. My eye did bruise pretty bad and stayed that way for about 2 weeks. After 2 or 3 days, it was a bit sore, but that didn't last long. I cleaned it 2x a day with anti-bacterial soap and Bactine. It did get infected about 2 weeks ago. Not really "inside" the hole, but more like around one of the openings. I started putting Neosporin on it and it went right away. I think it's still too early to try to change the jewerly out (it's a steel ring), so I am still waiting to put a bar in it. They say ~ 6 weeks for healing, but I have always been a little slow in healing. My cartilage ear piercing took forever to heal.

And, no! Don't take out the ring when you clean (you'd never get it back in), just keep spinning and rotating it so it doesn't stick.

HAHA Another "I'm cool because I am unique and anti popular culture. I'm unique." Guess what, even that is played out and unoriginal!
