I ordered an Alpha P3125 Kit from 2cooltek.com

UrL: http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/2/15.htm?680

When I opened it up, there were fingerprints all over it and in the metal/copper there are circular marks as if someone tried to sand it. Look close at that picture, you will see similar circles, only mine are all over. Is this defective? I emailed the guy and he said that it might have been one that he tested but never put on a cpu. He also said that he wouldn't exchange it, only return it.

IS this bad or should I keep it

And if return, where else sells tehm, thanks

Pete

Read the instructions that came with it...from my understanding, it is just a coating to ensure that the metals from rusting. Just wipe it off w/ a cloth or something.

The copper area that contacts the CPU should be polished to a near mirror finish. Alpha wraps their heatsinks in plastic bags to keep them from 'tarnishing.' If the heatsink has been used/touched alot and exposed to air for long enough finger prints will start to show up. The finger prints don't hurt anything, but if the surface is not polished smooth the heatsink will not work as well as it should. If you cannot get a replacement from the dealer, you can get one at my website. I hope it works out for you. Good luck :)
