Tried to stream Captain America yesterday through Amazon app on my PS3. After waiting a good minute or so, the movie played for about 3 seconds, then went into buffering mode again, then I got a message about connection timing out or something like that. Basically, I couldn't stream the movie. I thought I would have the option to download the movie, but couldn't find it. Any thoughts? I have a 6Mbps connection. Do I need to bump it up to have any success?

I've watched seasons 6 and 7 of Dr. Who via Amazon on my PS3 without any problems, but I do have a 12 Mbps connection. I'm cheap so I usually just get the SD version instead of HD.

Is your PS3 connection wired or wifi? PS3 wifi works fine for me but some people do have problems getting it to work well for streaming.

Try Netflix or the Crunchyroll app free sample for comparison. Avoid the YouTube app, I get all kinds of buffering from it even when all of the others are fine.

Did you try lowering the bitrate in the Netflix account settings? Unless you have fiber, 6mbps is more like 1-2 during peak load. IME, it even falls to 2-300kbps during sustained transfers.

No problems streaming HD quality over a 12Mbps connection. It is a wired connection.

I stream regularly over wifi. I believe I watched 2 hours of content yesterday. Your internet provider seems to make the biggest difference. Back when I had AT&T dsl I couldn't stream for crap and the amazon content was pretty poor quality. Now I get HD streaming and no problems generally.

I have a 30mbps connection and it's iffy at best. Sometimes I can stream no problem, and other times it will play for 10 seconds and stop. Doesn't matter if I have it wired or wireless.

Your connection sucks. I use a PS3 in my basement that's streaming HD from my router upstairs across the house. I rarely have issues with it other than when my ISP (Comcast) starts donking it up. How close is your PS3 to your router?

PS3 is downstairs, router is upstairs, almost directly above it.
