i just did a fresh install of windows98 and installed the latest 3dfx drivers (which i got from voodoofiles). after installed CS and all updates, i ran CS but was quite disappointed with my fps. i'm running at 1024x768 w/ wickedgl drivers. i usually get between 50-99 fps. it sorta jumps up and down all the time. is that supposed to happen? also, when i ran thru a smoke bomb, my fps also died out on me. anyone else have that problem? on my older cel300a rig w/ voodoo3 2000, smoke doesn't even make my fps flicker. i've posted questions comparing the radeon and voodoo5 before and it seems quite a few ppl feel that the v5 is great for CS. but for me, it seems as if the v5 performs about the same as my radeon and also suffers from the horrible smoke bomb fps-killing problem. maybe i am doing something wrong. for u v5 users who play CS...how is ur rig setup? what drivers are u using? do u max out ur opengl settings in the 3dfx tools tab? what res do u run CS at? is there a patch for voodoo cards and CS? sorry if i sound like i am interrogating u guys
feedback would be greatly appreciated. thanx!
