Anyone with a roof rack - How do I know how many lock cores to get?

I just received my Yakima Control Tower setup via UPS yesterday and realized I forgot to grab the SKS lock cores.

How do I go about figuring out how many I need?

I know I need at least 4 for the towers themselves, but do I need to get ones for each individual mount I use up top?

What mounts? For bikes, usually one. For roof box, usually two. Depends on the mount(s).

I don't have any yet, but will likely be buying two for kayaks. Likely a Hullraiser and some Landshark Saddles

Yes, you most likely will. I've only ever had the ski/snowboard racks and the bike racks, but I needed one for each rack (2 on a snowboard) or one for each bike rack (it locked on the front fork). You might want to check the installation manual for the rack you want to get for the exact number of cores you need. I bought a few more cores than I needed so they'd be identically keyed for other racks if I did end up buying another rack.

I know REI sold the cores for a fairly decent price back when I bought them.
