Did it come from the factory with wireless? If not, you'll need to buy some antennas - look for the "under the keyboard" style for minimal disassembly required. :)

Actually, many laptops have Mini-PCI antennas, even if they don't have the cards straight from the factory. I think the 2100 may be one of these.

There should be a small plate over the Mini-PCI slot on the bottom. Remove it, put in the card, and connect the antenna connectors. Install drivers.

You're done!

Perhaps it wasn't clear but I was talking about internally, I don't see the antenna wires. I'm asking if I have to purchase the wires and open up the chassis.

If it was a simple drop in install, I woudln't be asking this.

Thanks though.

I get that sinking feeling that I will have to buy a set of wires, what a pain. I just pieced it back togethered...

How odd.

Adding antennas is a pain in the ass, I'll warn you that.

Your best bet is to buy some of the flat antennas used in certian Inspiron laptops and some others, such as the 8200. You can probbably fit one of these between the top plastics of your laptop and the metal LCD sheild. (You want your antennas on the OUTSIDE of the metal.)

Alternately, I think that you might be able to buy certian antennas with the appropriate connector on a short pigtail. You'd need to duct-tape it on to the side of the laptop, but you'd get much better range.

Do you have a pcmcia slot?

I use a Blitzz wireless that I just slip in to the slot, install drivers and configure. The card has a built-in antenna and I use it in my home office.

If you talking about an aircard, I have one also. It does come with an antenna for exterior use. Hook it up again in my pcmcia slot.
