Anyone who has a RADEON 9600SE can u comment on performance

I've read all the reviews of a RADEON 9600SE and they say that the performance is not that flash.

I'm wanting some opinions of people who have a RADEON 9600SE. Is the performance reasonably acceptable for the latest DX9 games?

I'm not talking about gettin 110 + fps in these games, but just acceptable performance at max details etc.

The 64bit bus on the 9600SE simply chokes performance too much. It runs some games ok in Anands review but on a lot of others it?s way too slow. In the digitlife review a 2 year old ? 7500LE 260/190 DDR ? beat the 9600SE in the majority of game benchmarks. Even though the 9600SE has DX9 its realistically going to be too slow of a card to do much gaming with it. The 9600SE isn?t worth it at about $100. If the 9600 was $100 I would say go for it as I consider that a pretty decent card. Only problem is that the 9600 is a little pricey at $115. I wish ATI would get the 9600 under $100 -- I think they would sell boat loads at that price range.

I would take a $70 128MB 9100 over the $99 9600SE any day. digitlife

This is disappointing to say the least; I just picked up a SFF Dell Opti GX260 that will only accept low-profile AGP cards. My main choices are the Matrox G550, Radeon 7500 64MB, Radeon 9600SE, Radeon 9200SE (both 128MB), GeForce 440MX (64MB) GeForce MX 4000 (128MB) and GeForce FX 5200. All of these choices are disappointing, but I've got to get a video card in this box without cutting the side panel LOL hack job. So what should I go with?

I?ve got a 64bit memory bus Sapphire 9100 64MB. If I run it in 16 bit, the performance boost in SOF II: Double Helix and Delta Force:BHD goes up about 50% (measured with fraps) -- a substantial boost. Running a 9600SE in 16bit would probably make it half decent.

I just received the above-mentioned Radeon 9600 from NewEgg; unfortunately the product looks nothing like the pictures, and it's a full-height AGP card. I think I'm stuck deciding between the 64-bit 9600SE or the Geforce FX 5200, unless anyone knows of a more powerful low-profile card. Any more suggestions?

To the OP: HardOCP tore the whole SE line a new one here.

"If you have old games, or you are a casual gamer that fires up a game or two every now and then these cards could be perfect for you. They accelerate Windows great, and DVD playback quality is excellent and fast. They also have DVI and TV-Out if you need those features. But in terms of playing current games, forget it. You can find 9600Pro?s for less then $150 these days, and that is what we would consider an entry level gamers card."

The card is terrible, whenever you see SE in low end cards STAY AWAY FROM THEM! the 64 bit memory bus on the card is PATHETIC, it is clocked down tremendously, and in benchmarks, it finishes dead last, along with the other crappy budget cards. If you want a bargain, do yourself a favor and get THIS It will outperform a 9600se (DUH), and it's also ssssilent.
