It's red ribbon week you know. I just found out about it yesterday. Reading about what happened to Enrique "Kiki" Camarena (the DEA agent that red ribbon week honors), has really had an impact on me. I used to think smoking pot was no big deal. Not anymore... Never again...

Dangerous business, that DEA-stuff-business. The possiblity of getting killed is a part of that job. As unfortunate as it may be, we cannot devote a week of rememberance to every Agent/Cop/Fireman/Postal Worker that gets offed.

How about the tens of mililtary people that die every year during NON_WAR accidents like training or just everyday work (like a tank falls on you while you're working on it :Q)

Nice of you to wear your ribbon though. I'll pass. We have the red ribbon for Kiki. The black ribbon for MalcomX day, the white ribbon for Hug a Baby Day, the purple ribbon for Rumprangers offed by AIDS day, the blue ribbon for mother's day, the pink ribbon for Kiss a cop day....too many darn ribbons. :p

1.) Who is this Kiki person?
2.) Why does this person deserve an entire week divoted to them
3.) Why wear a ribbon?
4.) I'm tired. I want to sleep.

Google is wonderful

I agree with MichaelD though.

Well, I have a soft spot for people who are slowly and brutally tortured to death. The website I was reading gave a couple of specific maximum-pain techniques the barbarians used, and I couldn't help but think how anyone who purchases illegal drugs indirectly contributes to these types of heinous crimes.

I didn't know he served in the US Armed Forces. I tip my cap to him. He was doing a great and important job.

Hopefully I'm misunderstanding. Are you saying that someone who was killed doing his DEA job isn't important until he's served in the military?

I realize that one death isn't that important...but Kiki is a symbol of all that's wrong with this country and its obsession with drugs. I wholeheartedly support it, and I hope that everyone, military or not, will support this cause.
