On the most recent episode the actually have a guy succumbing to brainwashing. He was asked to do several tasks and he refused. This after not eating for several days and then being told to gorge until he puked. Also sleep deprivation and constant awakening every twenty minutes. He was cocky and thought he could handle the torture, but couldnt. He actually seemed like he was having Post Trumatic Stress Syndrome because he said that while he was sleeping, he heard voices telling him to do things and was forced to get out of bed to do the tasks, when nobody said a word to him.And he was paranoid to the point of thinking that people were coming in his pod to steal his stuff.
He wanted out so he was told to hit a red button to signify he quit. He refused, so they brainwashed him a bit by giving him a nice comfy bed to sleep in and then a video camera to tape his thoughts ( keep in mind, there are about twenty cameras in his "pod" and the irony was oh too apparent. ) So, after giving him a bit of freedom they asked him to officially quit, he refused. Then they get him in his exit confessional and run some more questions by him and the scary thing is that you can see him mentally break. After a while of hammering him to push the button, he calmly says okay and hits the damn thing. I think if they took a gun and told him to blow his brains out, he would have done so freely.
It was probably the scariest thing I have ever seen on TV and I absolutely love this show.
Oh, and the last one left "wins" 50k and probably a lifetime of flashbacks and therapy.
Peace
