What was it, about a year ago or so we had that huge meteor shower? I was in Santa Barbara at the time, and we drove up in the hills and watched it.. it was pretty amazing. Not able to watch this one, however...

I just came back inside from watching (5am EDT.). The peak of the storm is Monday night/early Tuesday morning, but i went out tonight because it looks pretty bad weather wise tomorrow.
I was out for almost 2 hours & saw a few bright ones. Probably saw about 15 total.

This is an annual event. There's (at least) three meteor showers a year.

This one is the Perseids, this year it peaks on the 12th & 13th.

Best viewing is between 1:00am and dawn.

The other showers are the Hominids and Geminids, I think.

That was the Leonids, it was back in either last October or November. The buzz was that is was going to be the best one in 50 years, so I dragged my girlfriend out at 2am for a ride to the country to watch it. It was pretty amazing, at the peak around 4:30am there were 50-100 meteors per minute, like watching a fireworks display. I'm not going to bother with any of the others for a while because they're just not going to measure up.
