Anyone watched Coco?

This movie rekt me emotionally. It's funny because this movie isn't exactly meant to be this sad (vs something like Gump in front of Jenny's grave scene), but it was for me.

[spoilers]

I think it's because I'm a dad. And the thought of Coco saying 'papa' all her life missing her dad because dad abandoned her daughter. But he wanted to come home all along but was murdered.

Then I thought about my own daughter. That immediately crushed me.

I had some feelings related to vaginal loss in the past month also ..... was pretty bad m8 I do agree, losing something so important is crushing.

It was very well done.

[edit]

Shit. My autocorrect changed "was" to "wasn't."

I thoroughly enjoyed it in the theater and purchased the Blu-Ray.

Yes and it was a great movie. We watched it with our 3 year old son and afterwards I was thinking maybe he shouldn't have watched it.

And yes the moment you become a father, you become a HUGE softy.

I thought it was ... not awful exactly, but completely forgettable. My kids grew up with Pixar from Toy Story to The Incredibles they were all great movies. Coco didn't have any of that brilliance in my opinion.

I thought that was the absolute worst movie Disney has put out in a long long long time, and I'm a big fan of Disney flicks.

Plot was overall boring, stale, and entirely predictable... trying to just lean on the political correctness scale with celebrating "other cultures" similar to black panther. Entertainment wise? It was bad. It takes a lot for me to doze off on a Disney movie, I pretty much own every single one of them.

I'm currently counting down to Wreck it Ralph 2... the first was awesome.

Took the wee one to the movies to watch it. Normally I fall asleep during her movies, but I enjoyed that one.

For the record, Kubo is terrible, 0/10 would recommend.

Watched it just the other day on a flight home, and really enjoyed it. I agree, it was a lot more heart-breaking than I would have expected, but did end on a 'happy' note.

I felt the same way. I do think I would have felt a little differently if I were a father. Honestly, though, as someone who hears Spanish daily, I felt somewhat jarred the whole movie with the way they handled the accent/Spanish. It seemed like the Spanish accent would cut in and out mid sentence. Like they wanted to make sure it wasn't "too Mexican sounding," but then threw a bunch of Spanish words in as a reminder. Made it somewhat odd for me to listen to... but I may be over thinking it.

Why the fuck was coco old in the afterlife and why did the great grandma not realize the bad guy ripped off all her husbands songs.

Just another Hollywood ripoff

How did you not comprehend a kids movie?

As someone who's married to a Nicaraguan, you're overthinking it.

I do think too that your comment about being a father is 100% true. Once I had my son I became such a softy with stories and movies dealing with children/parent relationships.

It didn't sound a little jarring to you? Hmm. Maybe I'll have to watch it again.

I don't have a kid and I grew up without a father. The story still gets me.
