There was a few pretty good fights in the heavyweight division and bantam division. But the main event was kind of a let down (Tito Ortiz knocked out Evan Tanner in 30 sec.!). Anyone else watch it? Whaddya think?

It was originally banned in well over half the country (cable stations were restricted too), but with much public outcry and an INCREDIBLE track record of a lack of injuries, which is nearly equal to golf, it's as strong as its ever been.

It's ironic that "fake" fighting is just waaay more dangerous than real fighting..

I saw it. I was really, really hoping that Evan Tanner would give Tortiz (my new nickname for him) a run for his money. This reminded me of the fight with Frank Shamrock vs. Igor Zinoviev where he basically did a double leg shoot and came down hard and broke Igor's collar bone. I was training with Frank at the time and he said that at first, he didn't realize how hard he came down which is why he threw a punch at him. Crazy crap.

Evan is actually a pretty good fighter. He has a pancrase style organization he runs in Texas that has some pretty decent fighters.

What did you think of the Uno vs. Pulver fight? I personally thought Pulver was not really on and did not show that he has some submission skills.

Elvis Sinosic was a LOT BETTER than I thought he was going to be. I knew he trained under the Machados, but he really showed some mad skillz. He went for a triangle and armbar at the same time. If he would have missed with the armbar, he would have easily gotten the triangle on Horn. I can see why Shamrock was so cautious with him at K1 when they fought last.

I am really rooting for Kevin Randleman to beat the hell out of Ortiz. He is bigger (not taller!), faster and stronger than Ortiz and is a helluva better wrestler to boot AND has beaten the crap out of some good heavyweights (Mo Smith and even Bas Rutten). I think Ortiz is DEAD once Randleman gets in the octagon with him.

Didn't watch it... I've missed ALOT of them. I watched like 1-10, and a few from 10-20, and the big hits 1 and 2 or whatever they were called. and missed 20-30..

Does anyone know a site where I could find match history and etc?

I would recommend going to their new site. There is some good info on there. Also, you may just want to rent the videos. There are quite a few out these days (30 plus!).

The new owners are really trying to make stars out of people, especially Tortiz. It is starting to feel the WWF, which to me is bad since I equate white trash and poor acting with the WWF.

As for the banning of the UFC, Senator John McCain put some serious pressure on SEG (the company who used to own the UFC) and cable companies to stop what he termed "human cockfighting". Of course, he has no problem with boxing and kickboxing - which actually have a much higher rate of injury than mixed martial arts events.

I actually wrote TCI (when they existed) about why they stopped airing the UFC. Their official word was that it was not pulling in enough money. But, when compared to other PPV events, it actually had a higher buy rate. The person from TCI was presented with this and stated that it the lack of cash the other ones were pulling in was irrelevant .. but said nothing else. LAME.

I totally agree. Randleman KILLED Rutten. I chalk it up to lame judging.

"Of course, he has no problem with boxing and kickboxing"

McCain's a politician. Politicians are all about the money.

Personally I thought XXX was a good show. Not the best, but surely not the worst. I thought that Ortiz would beat Tanner, but I thought it wouldn't be so quick! But that's how these things work out sometimes.
