That's a different show, the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes - I catch that on Tuesdays at 7 on 21 - I don't love the smarter Watson but I like the atmosphere.

Sherlock is new and a contemporary update (it was on channel 21 at 9 last night). Worth seeing, just curious what anyone else thinks.

I saw it and enjoyed it quite a bit. Quite a few funny bits too! "The freak's here!" :D I'm looking forward to the next one.

A couple other points. I wasn't as impressed with Martin Freeman as I thought I'd be, although that could just be the character. And I think Benedict Cumberbatch would make a good Doctor (but I do still like the current one).

I did like the humor - nicotine patches!

I'm not sure where they are going with the Martin Freeman character - he felt unfinished. I also thought the crime & solution were a little less than perfect (Conan Doyle sets a high standard). Why Rache? Still, the good parts make it good enough to keep watching.

reviewer said it was damn good. I'm going to check out the first season once it's on Netflix.

The HD channels were on the fritz while the cable co. was working on them, so I had a VERY limited selection and ended up watching public TV. There was a UK TV program called Life on Mars that was JUST TERRIBLE. They played a promo for this Sherlock show right after.

They called it "an original twist" because it takes place in the future.

Helloooooo?

I'm also thinking of some Star Trek TNG episodes...

And it continues...

A similar concept sent Sherlock Holmes into the 23rd century in a two-part episode of the Filmation series BraveStarr, first aired in 1988. In the story, based on the Sherlock Holmes short story The Adventure of the Final Problem, Sherlock Holmes falls down Reichenbach Falls after a struggle with Professor Moriarty, falling through a natural time storm, hurtling him forward in time and imbuing him with electrical powers. Professor Moriarty in turn uses cryogenics to follow Holmes into the Future.

This show's method for preserving Professor Moriarty and bringing him back to life should not be confused with the cryogenic method used by the 1987 Michael Pennington/Margaret Colin TV movie/failed pilot, The Return of Sherlock Holmes, or the suspended animation in the 1993 Anthony Higgins/Deborah Farentino Sherlock Holmes Returns TV movie.
