Anyone watch Happy Feet?

I was wondering how the hell they were going to make that movie end. Did anyone else think the ending was a desperate attempt to finally end a horrible movie? Was it an anti-fishing movie?

it was totally lame how it suddenly threw in a fishing agenda out of nowhere. If they had hinted that from first, it wouldn't have been as absurd.

Good movie, ridiculous ending.

I mean really, I started wanting to cut myself during the last 15 minutes. SO ridiculous.

They kinda started to hint about it with the fishing trawlers, when he got caught etc. However, yes, it wasn't from the start and what the film was mainly about.

Wait, you're upset about the ending of a kids movie?

Get serious. I don't think it was supposed to be an epic masterpiece.

You watched a movie called "Happy Feet" and expected a better ending? Logic not found.

Just because it is a kids movie doesn't mean it has to be bad.

Okay... the key here is to consider the target audience and whether or not their opinion of the movie is good or not.

Just like you wouldn't ask a macho dude about Bridget Jones' Diary or you wouldn't ask a Girly-Girl about Rambo 4 or something.

Shrek
Finding Nemo
Toy Story
Lion King
...

There are plenty of kid's movies that are well written.

This one seemed like more of a musical than the rest. I know the Lion King had songs in it too, but this one had more than those you listed.

Anyhow....musicals generally suck. They can't think of a good enough plot so they add a song and get paid.

Heck, even Dumbo set up one main conflict and then solved it.

The main conflict (from a plot perspective) in Happy Feet isn't even introduced until 3/4 of the way through the movie.

Well it followed the make a quick buck in Hollywood formula. Make an animated kids movie with cute characters, market the hell out of it and then watch the $$$ roll in. The movie doesn't have to be good and it doesn't have to make sense. Just pack the theater with 100 kids, and you get the business of 200, since their parents have to take them.

Surprised no one's said 'GAY AGENDA' yet here

Some things, like the obvious gay parallels, are too overdone and hamfisted for even the knuckleheads to get worked up about.

Maybe riding on the popularity of March of the Penguins?

Not even my girlfriend liked the movie. Cute dancing penguins should have been a sure thing for her even with a less than half way decent story but somehow happy feet failed.

But they had a game on every console at the time the movie hit the theaters, that means it's great, right? I mean, nobody would give a marketing department the responsibility to make both a movie and a game? There has to be a reason for it other than to make money? Hollywood wouldn't do anything to just make money. Right?

I bet she might like the adult version which is called, "Happy Meat".

It's odd how in a movie with talking, dancing, and singing penguins, you pick the issue of a fishing ban to be the most unrealistic and unexpected part.

But yes, human intervention does feel like a sort of deus ex machina in a movie comprised mostly of humanified penguins.
