In the end, he almost dies and his brother goes on to rule the world, right? The main theme of the movie is what? Hope? I remember that the world is pretty much a wasteland, seems kinda like after a nuclear war, nuclear winter... finally a girl comes along and she has the power or the ability to grow trees (oxygen?). Anyhow, in the end he doesn't win the fight, right? He kinda just loses and walks away? What is the point of that?

and oda, the mangaka/creator of one piece is a huge fan of toriyama, i remember reading a transcript/interview type thing of them meeting. hilarious stuff considering oda is nuts. 🙂
 
I love DBZ also. DBGT is ok and so is the origional DB, but DBZ was the best and longest series of the 3 i think? Also I liked the Trigun series....check on that one too.
 
DBZ was the best anime in my book. Second is Fist of the North Star. I loved the series. It was like another DBZ.
 
DBZ is pretty good, but it's kinda like Anime 101... it gives you the concept of anime and wets your appetite for the good stuff.
 
might wanna put spoiler in the title now, cause I've never seen the North Star and am looking for anime to watch. Guess I dont have to watch this one now :frown:

I originally asked about Akira Toriyama and then got no real answers. So then I wanted to ask another question about Fist of the North Star but did not want to start an entirely new thread for just that question (I've been flamed for doing this before). So I changed the question in the original post and TTT'd.
 
I think Mr. Toriyama retired from animation. AFAIK, he only runs an animation studio now.
Last thing I remember him doing was the video game Chrono Trigger for SNES.

He has students doing anime shows though? Is his art academy in Japan only? If he had an academy here I'm sure tons of people would go and learn from him.
