I had some memory go bad in my dads comp, so I'm trying to figure out who to RMA this to. Of course he has no clue where he bought it, so we'll see what happens.

Here are the pics, in all their geocities goodness:

I've done searches for VM and couldn't find anyth9ing, I'm guessing it stands for "Value Memory", but thats just a guess. As the stickers say, it's a 256mb pc133 stick. Thanks in advance!

I never thought of viking... I know SpecTek, a micron company, manufactures memory that looks very similar to this, but the holographic label is a bit smaller and obviously says SpecTek

Your best bet is that it has Micron chips on it, I can't see the pic's but if the chips say Mt on them anywhere their micron. Micron supplys so many chips to so many mem distributers it would be hard to pinpoint exactly what brand the stick is by simply knowing it's Micron.

I was going to have a looksie, but I received the following:

The web site you are trying to access has exceeded its allocated data transfer. Visit our help area for more information.

All of the stickers say PC133 though... I was running it at 133, maybe it's mislabled and so it died because I was pushing it?

You are going to have a difficult time RMA'ing the memory to the MFG even if I can figure out who made the memory chips, which I recall VT being a sudsidary of Phillips. You need to provide a proof of purchase and try the vendor first.

I tried searching and the only references that I managed to get were on dead links to japanese pages. But on one Japanese page that didn't translate well, I managed to link Seitec to the chips id and VM. It actually linked together on 3 pages, but two were dead links. I know nothing about Seitec. Anyway good luck.
