Until today, I had the regular silver XP theme and the default forum settings. In six months or so I'll change everything back to bright themes. But, for now...

<< that is one of the most boring effortless themes ive ever seen >>

Glad you like it. :p

<< The coolest Trillian skin happens to be orange...So my AT and Windows scheme just followed around that >>

That's why, with WinZip and Photoshop, you change the coloring to blue and white. ;)

<< Very nice, what size monitor you running? And whats norton system works? >>

I have a 17" Sony Trinitron flatscreen. :) Yup, that's SystemWorks.

This one is specifically for XP, so the following instructions only work with XP...

You'll need StyleXP before you can begin. Download and install that. Then, when you're done there, check outhttp://www.themexp.org/ for themes.

ThemeXP also has info on how to change your splash screen when windows is starting and info on changing the login screen. :)

They've got visual styles, logins, wallpapers, and boot screens that other people have made and submitted to be used with StyleXP.
note: boot screens only work with this proggy.

I wasn't trying to one up him, I was just sharing too...It's not an f'ing contest :)

it's alot different than the silver theme..look at the start menu, the open programs and the start button all have no outline or any depth their bitmaps making it all look integrated. Plus, you may not be able to tell but the menu bar at the bottom fades from a darker shade in the middle to lighter at the edges of the screen. I changed from silver to this theme.

If you don't want to download the stylesXP program, the functionality comes from it patching UXTHEME.DLL. I did a simple search on google and found the uxthemepatcher.zip and patched the file. It's put out by the same people that make StylesXP

True, but if you use the actual program, you have easier access to more options than the antequated Windows menu...

I forgot a little winkie;) Yours is way cool too much better than my lame stock silver.. I remeber in win98" the best theme i ever had was "the federation" theme. Cool sounds and dark like niks.

BTW where did you get yours?

No worries carbonyl :)

nik, I had the original version of stylesXP, and didn't want something else loading each time I loaded windows...the xp patch was pretty easy...I didn't fool around with the new version, I thought you had to buy it or something, and I wasn't down with that.

not sure, I think I got it from a friend, but check out http://www.xp-erience.org/ They have a whole mess of them, they might have it or something similar. I have 3 that are called either called blackcomb or .net theme, so they are definitely out there.

<< ThemeXP is a great link for how-to's and other themes, visual styles, logins, etc... >>

Cool. I already download every "darkish" theme they have. BTW- niks was luna blue i think.

And here is the little proggy you need if you guys don';t want to go shareware route, but as nik said you could loose some fuctionality.
