Thanks. Where do I find the id1 folder? I can't seem to find it.

The id1 folder should be in your quake install folder. For example /quake/id1/
I just realized what I downloaded was a patch, not the actual game. I don't have the shareware or retail version of quake, so I can't play it.
Does anyone still sell the game for Mac?
You don't need the mac specific version of the game. The PC version will work just fine. Even the PC shareware version will work, though you will have to install DOSBOX to run the installer.exe to uncompress the files and get access to the id1 folder. Either that, or install it on a PC and copy the folder over onto your mac. Either way works fine.
The OP provided a link to download an exe. Can I install that exe file on my PC, and just take the id1 folder from it after it decompresses the files? Or do I need to find the shareware version?
Yep. Just install it and decompress it on your PC and copy the id1 folder onto your mac. It should work fine.
It worked!! Thanks a lot DOACleric!!
