I haven't kept up with the latest prices and hardware (motherboards, processors, etc.) but i'm building a new computer now and my budget is 1300. Can anyone give some suggestions on what to buy? It needs to include a monitor, keyboard, everything, even the screws :)

Try the main part of this website

Use a Pentium 1.6 CPU for ~$117

Substitute a 256k stick of ram for ~$50

Buy an Envision 19" monitor from Staples for ~$100 after rebate from Staples (search Hot Deals)

The 19" monitor brings it down enough to go with a faster CPU;)

I'm looking at upgrading at the moment, for a p4 1.6a or 1.8a, board, ram, and case I am looking at about $360, but I'm reusing sound/video/drives. That board does have integrated sound and video though, so if that kind of thing isn't important to you...

My dad ordered a complete p4 1.6 system from some place out in california for about $415 shipped. You can buy a heck of a monitor with the remainder of the 1300 balance :)

I was going to buy a LCD, but since those run about 300 for the cheapest one I might go witht eh 19" crt for 100 at staples. Basically I just want pure raw speed for gaming. Heavily oriented towards gaming/sound, space is good but gigs can always be upgraded later cheaply.

Ah, did you happen to get into the deal for the LCD at Dell? Kick yourself if you miss it. ;)
