If you figure out how to take the part of the monitor that connects to the base, please PM / post a how-to. I picked up the Acer yesterday and put it on a wall mount, but couldn't figure out how to get the post off of it.

How do you like yours? Any dead pixels or complaints? As for the base, I was thinking about that myself...and I think it might be these bolts inside that piece...not sure. Here's a pic I took...

I'm really happy with it, given the price Microcenter has it on sale for. A check last night didn't show any dead or stuck pixels. The only issue I've seen with it is that there seems to be a bit of a backlight bleeding problem - on a black screen, the backlight is pretty visible along the top and bottom, but it's nothing I notice when the screen is in normal use (mostly for web surfing, as this is on my guest computer).

I'd say the screen compares very favorably to the 2005FPW, which are the screens I use on my primary rig. Watched a 720p ep of BSG on it - it looked great to my eyes. The extra couple of inches over the 2005FPW don't really jump out when using it at a close range, but it is quite a bit easier on the eyes than the 2005 when you're using it at a distance of more than a few feet.

IonBlade -

Thanks for the info. I agree on the 2005FPW, as I have one on my system in the living room. I think the 2005 is a tad better at color reproduction, and up close, looks a smidge better...although it's probably just the finer pixel pitch. The larger size of the Acer is much nicer for viewing from more of a distance, and is a super bright, fast display. I think the Acer should be a perfect candidate for a wall mount because of both it's larger size, and the added viewing distance from the slightly larger pixel pitch. I fired up the shootout scene on my Heat DVD, and it looked great. I've also been playing some Far Cry and that looks awesome as well.

As for the backlight, bleeding is almost non-existant on mine. I'd say the 2005 has a bit more, but it barely has any itself. I've never seen an LCD with a perfect backlight, but this one is close. I've also noticed the Acer seems to need a lot more "tuning" to get the best image quality more than other LCD's I've used, but it's worth it as you can improve things noticeably with a bit of patience. Let me know if you try those bolts before I do...I'm curious to see if they will work. It seems to be the only way to remove it unless you need to open the whole thing up, but I doubt it. What sort of wall mount are you looking at? I think I'm going to go with a straight flush mount, and just mount it at the proper height/angle for where I will be viewing it from.

:)

It may be against code in some places, but codes vary widely depending on where you live. It's also possible it was against code but they did it anyway because they were unaware, or just didn't care.

not sure its ergonomic unless it has some kind of arm and tilt capability. flat against the wall is for tv type setups only

I plan on mounting my 32", once I get enough money for it.

I just have to find a way that doesnt put holes in the walls.

I saw a setup in a magazine where they placed shelves on the wall above the desk. They used the channel and bracket type shelving, and set the monitor on a shelf at the desired position. This is what I'll be doing.

you could probably do a cleaner job...the 2 cables hanging visible under the monitor is pretty unattractive. You should punch 2 holes, 1 behind the TV and fish it out another below desk level and bring it to the computer. That is how we mounted all our LCDs at the office and it looks sharp. All you'd see is a monitor hanging on a wall like a picture, with no nasty cables hanging out ;)

I could do that, but quite honestly, it's not something I'm too worried about. I actually moved my printer right underneath it since I took that pic, and you can't see the wires at all. I live alone and it works fine for me. I really just wanted it more eye level and the Acer stand did not offer height adjustment..

:)
