I am familiar with how to apply the mod from this link

However I have some questions that the site does not address that only someone w/ experience might know.

What kind of results will the RF mod produce? Will the 2d be comparable to Radeon or Matrox G400? Is it worth the risk?

I currently own the Creative Labs Annihilator 2 32mb and am interested in doing this mod.

Does anyone know exactly what tools are needed to perform this mod?

Any input on this would be appreciated.

Here are my current Specs...

MSI K7TPro2A
Duron600@950
256mb Crucial CAS2
IBM 60GB 75GXP Hard Drive
Matrox G400
SB Live Value
Netgear 10/100 NIC
Toshiba 12x DVd
TDK 12x/10x/32x CDRW
1.44 floppy
Antec SX1030B Case
Linksys 10/100 4 Port Router
Sony E400 19" Monitor
Boston Acoustics BA4800 speakers

IMO the mod is low risk if you are good at working on surface mount PCB components. We have an electronics lab at work and one of the technicians there did the mod for me as a favor. It took him about 2 minutes to do the job.

I had it done to my old Creative Labs TNT2 card as a test. Removing the RFI filters did improve the image quality but it came no where close to Radeon or Matrox quality (I have both so I know). I also have a Creative Labs GeForce256 DDR, I have not had this card modified yet. The image quality of the GeForce is just as poor as the TNT2's was and, similarly, I would not expect it to improve much.

Bottom line, this is a low risk mod with varied and highly subjective results. Some people on this forum say it works great. IMO these people only think that because they successfully performed the mod themselves.

I had my Asus V7100 done in an electronics shop as well and agree with Yoshi. Although there was definite improvement, I wouldn't say it was a dramatic difference. Based on my results I wouldn't recommend it to someone who is not totally competent working with PCB's. Closing the bridges on my Duron was the limit of my abilities. Those tiny components were too intimidating but the tech did it in a couple of minutes.:)
