Please PM me. I have an issue with my Comcast cable and cablecards.

Too confusing to post details. Bottom line is I should be seeing some channels that I am not seeing and neither TiVo nor Comcast can fix it.

Thanks.

I have Comcast and a TiVo HD, so lucky you, I have advice.

It sounds to me like they screwed up the pairing process between the guys in the back office and your TiVo, and you're only getting unencrypted channels. You can try calling them for another truck roll, but they're probably going to blow it again. Here's the nuclear option: hunt down the CEO's email address off Consumerist.com, and then email him about your problems. I did that when they told me it would take three weeks to get a CableCard install. I wound up getting their dedicated escalations team, composed of two VERY experienced installers. They got it installed properly within two days of the email.

Unfortunetely it appears the cable companies have no idea about the product they deliver. I had a hard time getting Charter to get their cablecard working. The pairing was all screwed up. Eventually on the 3rd try they sent somebody out who actually understood wtf they were doing, called the right girl back at the office and got it working.

My 2nd HD-Tivo worked like a champ on the firs time.

If you are not getting the right packages they need to work on it from their end.

Sadly these issues with cables cards are the norm not the exception. I have talked to a lot of comcast techs about cable cards. When the first thing they tell you to do is connect the coax from the back of the box (there is no box...) to the tv because that is needed to activate the cable card you know you are sunk and should hang up and call back just to try to get someone who knows how to setup the cards correctly.
