Im due in a few weeks to take the core hardware exam. Anyone around here taken the latest "2003" revision? I've bought a couple monsterous training books and have noticed a ton of material on IRQ addresses, POST error codes, scsi everything, and other related subjects. What areas do you guys think i should worry, and not worry so much about?

I know it's not what you are asking for, but I took (and passed) mine in 2000. We needed to know IRQ, POST, and SCSI information.

Im not sure if the scoring system has changed any, but what is the number you must get correct to pass? How many questions were there total?

I took mine in 2002. The hardware wasn't too bad, but the software got me the first round. (was a bit cocky, didn't think i needed to study software) I don't think the scoring or # of q's has changed. the test is adaptive so you don't have to answer a certain number right. each one is worth a certain point value and also decides what question you get next. so if you don't know a subject well, (laser printer) the test will ask you questions on the same subject of questions you got wrong. my point is......study. my test didn't ask me any default IRQs or Memory Address. If you get one that you don't know, take your time. if you miss it you will get a harder one on the same subject. good luck!!! great cert to have!
