Going to visit my brother in London. Wife and I want to visit Ireland for a few days. Anyone been? Anyone recommend a city? Looked at Belfast and Dublin last night. Was hoping someone here might be somewhat familiar with Ireland and might want to recommend a city or things to do.

throw out any ideas on fine dining.

however, stock up on wool products. got some neat sweaters and gloves from there.... high quality stuff.

I was in Dublin last month for 4 days. Hit the Temple Bar area. Visit the Brazen Head pub (est 1198 or something), The Thing Mote pub, etc. Lots to see there.
Actually, I found the food to be quite good. Had some good mussels.

Dingle Bay, Cliffs of Moher, Galaway, Limerick, Cork, and Dublin are the cities/sites I'd recommend.

The Guinness factory in Dublin should be a stop. I preferred the west coast, and the smaller towns.

Dublin is lots of fun. I was there a couple of years ago for 2 days. Hung out in the Temple Bar area, toured the Guinness brewery, went to St. Patrick's Cathedral and Dublin Castle.

On the contrary, the food was terrific while I was there.

I spent some time out in Clare, had a blast. Definetly go check out the Cliffs of Moher. Lots of quaint little towns to visit and shop in, Lisdoonvarna, Doolin, etc. Galway was fun too, good shopping there for sure.

The Cliffs are near the top of my list right now.

After reading this thread and another I started at a different site, it sounds like I'm in for a treat. Looking like I'll fly into Dublin then rent a car. I'll spend a day or two driving the countryside, seeing the cliffs, and visiting various pubs and tourist sites along the way. Fly out of whatever city we end up in. Flights around Europe are dirt cheap if you book early.

Thanks for the suggestions. Keep them coming if you have more.
