So my girlfriend finally pissed me off by not letting me play my 360 on my brand new 50" HDTV that I paid for because she wants to watch TV at exactly the same times I want to play XBOX.
I finally gave in and bought the VGA cable to play my 360 on my Dell 2007wfp. Everything works right, except that the XBOX doesn't allow me to run 1680x1050. I have a whole slew of resolution options from 640x480 to 1366x768 and then it jumps to 1920x1200. I currently have it set to 1366x768 which is ok, but the monitor is stretching the screen to 1680x1050.
Needless to say, it doesnt look half as good as running native 720p on my HDTV.
I can set the monitor to display 1:1 pixel mapping, which makes it look amazing, but I lose a third of the screen to black bars which makes it look like a 17" WS monitor and is unacceptable to me.
Is there any way around this, or is it a limitation of the XBOX? I find it very strange that it would offer me so many resolutions options up to 1920x1200, but completely leave out 1680x1050.
Thanks for the input.
