I wanted to know if anyone was using the SwiftTech MC370-0A and how you like it?

What fan are you using and how noisy is it?

How do like the way it attaches and is it as secure as the standard type clips?

Thanks for any info...

No, I never got any input here about it. I did talk to one guy who has one and he really likes it. I am still in the process of putting my rig together and will need to make a decision pretty soon on my parts.

I noticed you digital audio workstaion in your signature. I am a musician also and I was curious about your IBM hard drives. I am going to get the Tekram SCSI card and was thinking about getting the Quantum Atlas 10K II 18.4G hard drives. Would the Quantum 10K II be just as good as the IBM and Seagate for digital audio recording purposes?

Thanks...

Yes, the Atlas 10KII is a great drive...better than my IBM's. Excellent choice. At the time of building my system, they were still too expensive. But now they are very reasonable.

BTW, I have an extra Tekram 390 U2W in a second PC running with original Atlas 10K's. I'd have no problem offering you this excellent SCSI controller since you are on the look out for one. It's retail, mint and includes everything you need. I'm trying to consolidate everything into one PC system...two has proven to be too expensive, especially when running a Pro Tools Mac dual G4 500 system in my studio.

I can pass it on to you for $110 or so.

LMK.

Pwag,
I'll keep your card in mind, if I don't get the DC-390U3W.

I am wanting a Mac for my studio setup, but that will probably be about another year off.

Thanks...

Sounds good.

BTW, only go MAC if you need the compatibility with Pro-Tools...otherwise the latest T-birds blow the G4's away.

MC370 is a great heatsink/fan. I am running a 1gHZ at 10x145 (1450) and the temperature is always in the 30-40C range. Comes with a 33cfm papst fan that does the job very well. The fastening mechanism is superb, it screws on without any of the unnnecessary pressure on the cpu that retention clips are known for.
