Anyone using the new IOLO System Mechanic 9 (standard version)?

There are at least a few freeware or shareware programs available that do registry optimization.

But I've been using System Mechanic since version 6 and starting with a Windows 2000 OS. Version 7 came in a 3-PC license -- worked well with Windows XP.

IOLO cautioned its customers that version 8 did not work with VISTA -- or at least, VISTA 64.

But now, the new version 9 is available, and I snagged it for a base-price of around $20.

As little as VISTA 64 seemed to show any problems with registry corruption or hard-disk fragmentation, I'm really pleased with v.9 of System Mechanic.

The only P-I-T-A: It seems to take as long or longer to load for manually-controlled operation as the earlier version with a 32-bit OS. But I don't find a "System Analyzer" service hogging 60MB of RAM -- Schweet!

People have told me that "System Mechanic messed up their computer," but I've never had a problem with it for using it carefully, choosing for myself what it does -- and doesn't -- do . . .
