Anyone Using "Pro Tools LE 7"?

At my last job I set up two users with this program, one with an HP nw8000 and one with an HP workstation - can't remember what it was but I'll look it up at home.

I believe it was an xw4200 with an nVidia Quadro 280 PCI.

How would an AMD 64 3000 with 1 gig of ram run with this program?

I ran it on a Athlon XP-M 2500+ with 1GB just fine. It's not a huge resource hog unless you pile on the third-party plugins.

What do you want to connect? I've seen it work with Firewire and USB drives.

I'm actually going to build a pc for the guy I work for.
I'm trying to find out how it connects to the computer.

He's buying the Pro Tools Le 7 and it includes some kind of audio thing.
The whole kit is like $450.


This audio recording/mixing stuff is all foreign to me.

Any ideas?

Yep, the users I supported had an MBox and an MBox 2 on their respective systems.

Using Mac Mini with 512mb ram... about to use a dual core Opteron and 2gb of RAM though...
you don't need a super fast computer, but when it comes to producing music you need a lot of RAM, IMO.

You need Digidesign hardware. Probably the Mbox2. You can get the Mbox1 for cheap but don't buy it because support will end for it soon (you won't be able to run new versions of Pro Tools on it.. The Mbox2 is a USB 1.1 device.

I've run Pro Tools on hardware as poor as a 867Mhz G4 Powerbook. It's a pretty efficient application, but as you add more tracks and effects it sucks up more and more resources. The hardware you described can more than run it.

Is there any particular sound card thats recommended for Pro Tools Le 7?
Or it isn't a big deal?

Both systems I set up used their onboard sound, nothing special.
