Anyone using Fluance?

I've heard them before. They're decent, especially considering the price. I'd probably put them in the league with the low-mid range Polk stuff.

I've had my AV HTB set since 2004 and it's still performing flawlessly. I have it set-up in our dedicated media room. They're not very efficient, however, so you'll need a good receiver to power them. When i first got them, they were paired with a low-end Sherwood. Over the years i changed receivers and they really started to shine with the med-high-end HK receiver i've thrown at it.

Back then these babies were rated very highly even compared to brands 3-5x its price. (I got the set for $175 shipped via their eBay store). Even today, i don't think you can get anything at that price that would outperform these babies.

I have the SX-HTB (non-plus) set and the AV-SC center in my living room, paired with a Panasonic XR50.

After many hours of "break in", I found the SX tower woofers to be somewhat shouty in the upper mid-range. The guys over at the Parts Express forums suggested I install a resistor (can't remember the spec) in parallel with the drivers to help tame them somewhat. Cleaned the mids up like a charm, and now I just need to address the somewhat-shrill highs on the upper end.

It could very well be a combination of the XR50 (digital, known to be very revealing) and room acoustics. No treatments have been applied.

Fairly happy with the sound overall, though. 🙂 I will definitely toy with a newer receiver (with room EQ) and room treatments before thinking of replacing these.

I have a very similar setup to 12andy - I'll have to check the exact models of the speakers when I'm home from work, but I have the same Pansonic receiver. Back around 2003-2004 I read a thread on AVS about the best system for under $1000 (5.1 + receiver) and this was the recommendation.

I'm far from an audiophile, but I've been satisified with the purchase. I'd like to see how things sound with a better receiver, but it's obviously been good enough for the past 7 years.

I had the surrounds & centers. Pretty great for the price! Would buy again.

I have two floor standing fronts, center, and two surrounds. I live in an apt so I dont know what they are like cranked up, but they are pretty good, even without a sub hooked up. I think they were AVS recommended when I bought them like Booty said.

I have since replaced the TV, receiver, DVD -> Blu ray, etc, but the speakers are still going strong.
