Earlier this morning I turned on my TV and a message came up that said it lost the signal and is trying to acquire it. It stayed there for awhile so I just turned the TV off and left. I came back and the receiver still could not pick up a signal. I figured I'd just turn off the receiver and see if that'll help. When I plugged the receiver back in, the screen came up black and I could not do anything. The power light on the receiver didn't turn green either but if I press the system info button on the receiver, a screen pops up with my card ID and etc. But this is the only button that will respond. This happened for awhile and I finally got the receiver to turn on correctly. Now it's just sitting there trying to acquire a signal again.

I ran outside to check and the sky looks pretty blue to me. No obstruction at all. I've been getting a strong signal so I don't know what's going on.

No problems in East Texas. When I turned it on this morning, it did have to update.

Your dish may have shifted, Check your signal strength, if you are getting something but not enough, your dish probably has shifted in which case do one of the following (1) if you feel daring have someone at the receiver and adjust the dish side to side, do not adjust it up and down, just loosen the (2 normally) bolt and see if you can pick-up anything or (2) call up your local satallite company and have them come check it out (generally will cost $50 - $75 though).

If you are getting nothing then check the cable running to the dish and try running a temporary run instead.

WTT

P.S. If you have multiple receivers, is this happening on all of them or just one (All = dish problem, One = cable problem)

I'd check and make sure the connections on your switch and grounding block are tight. Whenever I have signal problems I usually find that a loose connection in the switch or the grounding block thingy is the problem.
