Anyone using an SL6VC (D1) P4-M 2.4 on a desktop board?

I bought this chip from eBay, but it would neither post on my IS7 nor my 848P-A. I don't believe the claim of the seller that this chip does not work on 875P, 865PE and 848P boards, but I may be wrong. Someone out there using a mobile D1 on one of these boards? Thx.

I hate to see this chip sitting on my desk unused. It's supposed to hit 3+ GHz.

I'm using a D1 stepping mobile P4(SL77R) in an IS7, i've tested 3 different mobile cpu's with this board and all of them booted fine. Maybe the cpu is dead.

Porkbun..Perhaps those boards need to be flashed to the latest bios first before placing the chip in it.....

Thanks for the heads up. Yes, I did it but it was still a no-go.

I've run a few P4M cpus through several 865 boards. A quick list that I can remember:

Aopen AX4SG-UN
Abit AI7
AsRock P4i65GV

If you are in doubt, grab a cheap SiS board (648FX, 661, etc). They almost always work w/ P4M. I just moved my mobile P4M 1.7 from the Aopen board above to an Abit BG7 that works as well. A few others I've used with mobiles are

Asus P4S800
Abit BG7

If you need a known working test bed, shoot me a pm.

Edit: From BigBadBiologist in Karaktu's Mobile Celeron thread:

"I'll add my experiences to the list. I have a Mobile Celeron (P4 based) 1.5. I forget the SL number; it's probably SL6M5.

Abit IS7 (latest BIOS)
-will not POST unless you do the AE1 pin trick.
-runs all day at 200FSB (3GHz @ 1.55V), limit seems to be around 3.1GHz.
-use lapped penny to make contact with stock Intel HSF"

So your IS7 may have some issues recognizing the mobile part. Best of luck.
