I just got mine, installed it, and the fan's cosntantly running @ 5400-5600 rpm and it's driving me crazy. I'd probably get used to, but I've heard from other people that their fan runs @ around 2500-4000 rpm (variable based upon temp's). Now I'm really worried I installed my heatsink wrong or the thermal paste wrong and am now stuck with a 5600 rpm screamer. My CPU temp according to the BIOS ranges from 39 - 42 degrees Celsius, and is 36 degrees Celsius according to MBM 5 when in Windows. MBM 5 reports the motherboard is also 36 degrees Celsius.
And if that is abnormal, how can I fix it? I mean, what's a good process for removing the heatsink and cleaning it and the CPU, and then how should I add more thermal paste (and which brand)? This was my first time working with thermal paste (always had thermal padded ones) and I've obviously screwed it up beyond belief...
