so I've been reading the HTPC threads over at the AVS Forums and I'm wondering if anyone here is running one. I'm getting a big screen TV for graduation and I'm thinking about putting one together. Sounds pretty intriguing.

For those of you that don't know, people have been putting HTPCs together to have a multi-use device for DVD, CD, mp3, DivX, Tivo, HDTV, and gaming capabilities. Newer HDTVs can support high resolution computer images with VGA -> Component video converters. I've read that these images rival the ouput of high end ($3000+) dvd players.

I built an HTPC, and use it with my HDTV front projector on 100" diagonal screen. Using an ECS mobo, SBLive value sound, ATI Rage 3d video card, and HIPix HDTV card. The projector takes the RGB output in a VGA connector, don't need component. :) Perfect setup.

thanks for the offer Ameesh, I was just curious if anyone in this forum had a setup with an HDTV and to see what hardware they used.
