Anyone using a foot pedal for non-driving games?

Is it useful for things like moving forward / jumping / crouching in FPS games? How's convenient is it, and is there a specific model to get?

Thanks! 🙂

I used to use pedals from an old microsoft usb wheel to move forward/back in Counterstrike and Team Fortress, back in the early 2000's. I got so used to it that it became a crutch. It got to the point that I couldn't play FPS's without them.

I only play games at home, so I don't mind if things are inconvenient away from my desktop. If pedal/s add to the the experience, then I'm all for them. The question is which model to get.

If you are not playing a driving game then most will suit you fine as you'd just need 'on and off'. The more expensive pedals offer feedback and can track "where" the pedal is in it's range and even the acceleration of a foot press.

It's impractical, but there's no reason why you cant. It's really just another key you can press.

The key is reaction times. Most people can tap a key or click an extra mouse button way faster than they can push a pedal down with their foot. The only non-driving practical use I can really see for it is as a push-to-talk key for voice chat. Keeps your hands focused on your hands instead of trying to do hand gymnastics to play while holding down CTRL or Shift or whatever. Still expensive even for that, I wouldn't personally buy one and use it for that unless I was also already planning to use it for driving games.
