Anyone using a Canon USB 2.0 scanner? I'm using the Canon 670U but I was thinking for my next scanner I'd get the one with the USB 2.0 supporrt. Is it much faster than the USB 1.1 scanner I have?

Cheers,

They aren't any faster, just like most of the "USB 2.0" stuff out there. If the box says "USB 2.0 Full Speed", then that's a case for the Bullsh*it Detector.

USB as of specification 2.0 has three speed levels: Slow, Full, and newly introduced High. Yes, Full speed is less than High speed. Stupid this is, but good for the marketing. "USB 2.0 Full Speed" sounds a lot faster than "USB 1.1", but it's the same thing. You want a "USB 2.0 High Speed" device.

See www.usb.org for the standardized logos that tell these apart.

I'm using one and the actual scan is much faster but as Peter mentioned there is 1 wait for the light and scan adjustment...Beautiful scans non the less and the price is right along with a slides adapter which I wanted

Im in the same boat as LED .... I got the D1250U2F for the slide adapter. It does have the highspeed USB lable on the box also. I dont know how slow the old USB scanners were because my old Umax was a SCSI model. I can tell you this one is just as fast as my SCSI model was, at least it seems like it. I have not set them side by side and tested and I don't plan to because this one is plenty fast for me.
