I've been using it for ages, but I don't know what they are really for..
It makes glares though..
Do they protect your eye from something?

I've been using one for my normal computer monitor for ages... I got a Kensington thin screen filter and it is pretty good. Its meant to protect your eyes from strain or something like that. It also filters out stuff that is given off from the monitor which can be potentially damaging to the eyes!!! I don't use one for the laptop but the laptop uses LCD which does do whatever harmful stuff the monitor does so thats good. They are meant to reduce glare and protect your eyes from stuff that radiates from the monitor... Thats basically what I know about these screen filters.

SKY.

Those filters don't really protect the eyes from harmful rays or the body from EMF.

The best anti-glare filters I've found are the black fine mesh ones, but they get dirty easily.
