I think his point is that they aren't reimbursing him for use of his device, so fuck 'em. He'll work the system by giving them a pager number and getting back to them at a time that's convenient.

If they aren't paying for his cell phone, what makes his bosses think that it's OK to call him on it after hours if it's not an emergency?

I'd let that shit go straight to voicemail.

So you know what's going to happen here right? Eventually your employer is going to have some email go unread that flips out a big wig or high ranking customer and you all are going to be assigned company phones that you are expected to answer at any time the day.

Careful what you wish for.

no problem.. if they pay i answer. We're also getting shafted for train tickets..

They want me to pay extra $100 in train ticket to go to a different site. Ill be losing my home internet for that.. money gotta come from some where...

If they give me a phone and wont pay for my train ticket, Ill be like sorry i dont have home internet.. i have to pay for the train ticket to the other site thats further from the office.

We get a lot of weekend calls too :)

I didn't even have one when they were popular. I went straight to cell phone.

I also skipped the Nextel craze as well.

We still have a network emergency pager because as others have pointed out the service is better and the battery lasts forever.
I need to buy your forever pager.

I doubt it's still around after 5 years.
