Anyone used those leather repair kits with good results?

If I could I would kick myself. I was working on my car this weekend and was using the scissors. Instead of putting the scissors down on the floor like I always do I left it on my driver side seat. I then accidently sat on it and the blade cut a good 2 inch gash right in the middle. I'm thinking of having a shop do it professionally but might try the repair kits first to see how it turns out. I haven't called around for shop estimates but how much would I be looking at? The kit I'm looking at is $50. TIA.

The only way to fix it is to replace the leather. Those kits are usually just patches or a liquid that firms up to a rubber-like material, you then paint or dye it. It's pretty obvious in my experience.

Got to your local LARGE new car dealer with a big used car inventory. Talk the the used car sales manager and ask him when the vinyl and leather repair guy visits the lot. Go back on that day and talk to him. They will fix it for not much more than that kit you are looking at, and you will never be able to tell. My Bro-in-law is in that line of work, so I know! 😉
