Has anyone used the Panasonic Concourse gateway/firewall KX-HGW200 ?
This was Panasonic's entry into the gateway sweepstakes, and
looks/ed appealing for three reasons:
1) It simultaneously supports 10Mbps ethernet, HPNA2.0 (10Mbps
phoneline networking) and wireless ethernet (11Mbps).
2) It uses the supposedly superior Whitecap protocol for wireless.
3) Cheap considering the features: $99.
The downsides:
1) It uses the supposedly superior Whitecap protocol which is
incompatible with the 802.11b cards which everyone else uses.
2) If you want to use the wireless feature, you need to buy 2 cards:
1 for the gateway, and 1 for the laptop @ around $150/each.
3) No WinCE drivers for the PCMCIA cards, as far as I can tell.
Personally, I think the inclusion of HPNA 2 support is a GREAT
feature. Too bad it doesn't use standard 802.11b.
So anyone used one of these? Comments?
