Anyone used Teac's 12x SCSI (or IDE) burner?

I'm thinking about buying a mid-level CD-RW drive to replace my aging and testy 4x2x6 Yamaha SCSI burner, and Teac's 12x SCSI burner with Burn Proof look slike a pretty good deal @ $105. Has anyone used this model, or the IDE equivalent? I'm buying SCSI because my system is already all-SCSI, and I want to keep it that way, but I don't want the top of the line Sanyo 24x model because it's more than I want to spend and I plan on eventually buying a DVD+RW drive when they start making SCSI models, and I'll be replacing my CD-RW drive with that, anyhow.

Anyway, has anyone used this model? If so, how's the noise? I know that StorageReview.com didn't like Yamaha's 16x burner because it was loud as a mofo, although gave decent performance. How's the performance on Teac's burner, either that one or any other Teac? They worth it as a burner brand?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You might as well get an IDE burner. They are no slower than SCSI burners. The LiteOn 24x10x40 is an excellent buy for under $100.

Yes, I know that, but I'm trying to keep an all-SCSI system. The cost isn't the problem. I know I could pick up cheap IDE CD-RW drives (I read the Hot Deals forum, after all), but I'm still interested in SCSI.
