Anyone used secure/encrypted Email server / gateway before ?

Yes, I manage an Axway (formerly Tumbleweed) Secure Messenger server. Been using it for about 4 years now and it works very well. Support was excellent prior to the merger of Tumbleweed and Axway, but I can't really offer any opinion on support through Axway because I haven't had a need for support in the 2 years or so after the merger.

I've never heard of smarsh or electricmail. I remember looking at Zix when we were looking to buy, and their product was very similar to Tumbleweed. It has some value-add if you had a lot of business parters that also use Zix because it could negotiate a secure transfer between the two Zix servers instead of sending the recipient a link to retrieve the email by logging into an SSL web-mail client.

Do you have a set of requirements for your implementation? How many users? What is your existing email infrastructure?

ie smarsh.com, electricmail.com or zixencryption.com

or if anyone has other service they recommened.. thanks..

lstratos,

I used the GoAnywhere secure file transfer software at other companies and when a position opened with the company that makes GoAnywhere (Linoma Software), I jumped on it. I'll keep my excitement brief.

  • The software runs virtualized or on platforms like IBM servers, Linux, Windows, Unix, MacOS, etc.
  • The support is in-house and it is phenomenal. They will walk you through everything from install and up and running to helping you overcome some crazy configurations.
  • Web portals allow for secure internal and external file and message transfer.
  • AS2 messages are supported.
  • GoAnywhere Gateway is the reverse proxy DMZ gateway component

What do I do for Linoma Software? I write the User Guides and do a lot of the testing. I encourage you to make contact or for nothing else read the Web site or get a no-strings live demo or a full 30-day trial. We have customers from Fortune 100 in the USA to mom and pop shops all over the world and they all get the same great support.

Regards,
Dirk Zwart

Thanks its just 10 user on a exchange 2007 server, very simple, uses a postini (google) front end spam/av. I think we just need to securely attach files to existing emails. I think a lot of our client use Zix, so your info is very useful. Ill take a look at axway and other products..
