Anyone used CRC to clean a motherboard?

I saw some people on various forums say that this CRC Electronic Cleaner (http://crcindustries.com/ei/product_detail.aspx?id=05103&S=Y) can be used to clean computer components.

Anyone used it before? Can I just spray my laptop's motherboard and let it dry? Or do I need to wipe it off? I guess I would need to avoid spraying the CPU so I don't risk eliminating any of the thermal paste under it.

Why does your laptop motherboard need cleaning? I wouldn't bother, just blow the dust out of the fan area. Keep the fan from spinning when you do this if possible.

If you're describing electrical/electronics contact cleaner, use that to clean the gold-plated connectors of your components.

The only reason you'd want to wash a motherboard in some sort of solvent or cleaner would arise if you were a smoker, smoked indoors, and smoked in the room with your computer.

Otherwise, just blow off the dust with compressed air or a Metro ED500 Data Vac blower:

Also consider filtering your intake fans with easy-to-remove and easy-to-clean filters. DEMCiFlex makes good magnetic filters.

watch it! some CRC and other cleaners ARE NOT compatable with plastics. However, CRC does have a product that is and I use it daily to clean communications equipment which is housed in plastic cases that you would certainly not want to melt/discolor or mar the finish.

Read the front label and make sure it say its safe for plastics
