As most of you are aware, Yahoo Mail dropped support for POP3 a while ago. I tried Web2Pop but it wasn't free so I turned to YPOPs. It grabs the emails from the server just fine, but there's no way to delete them from the server with my mail client (Mailwasher). It's not a mailwasher-specific issue as far as I can see - it deletes my download Hotmail just fine. It's either YPOPs doesn't support deleting from the server or I'm not setting something in it correctly.

I see options to leave messages as unread on server, download from inbox/bulk mail... but nothing having to do with actually taking the message off the server (permanently). This would have the same effect as being able to delete from the server as far as I'm concerned. Whatever works... but it doesn't.

I need this to happen since I'd have to login to Y! Mail on the web and delete them so they don't show up next time... which is exactly what I want to avoid ever having to do by using a mail client.

Help ? Other free apps that work ?

I used to use YahooPops, but ran into the same problem as you. When you go to yahoo and delete all your messages you get a javascript confirmation dialog box. I don't know PC languages, so maybe someone with more insight can explain if it's possible to write a program that will click "OK" on yahoo's site. I think it's becaue of this dialog box that has stopped YahooPops from working. I'm sure the people at Yahoo came up with that idea. :( So I've decided to more or less say bye to yahoo and Hello to gmail since FreePops will allow me to get my email in Tbird. Gmail is suppose to allow pop3 access in the future, but I don't know when and if it will cost money.

Gmail to offer POP3 access ... so that's why I want to get Yahoo Mail working again... so I can do a one-stop mail check...

I don't know if it's a problem with the javascript confirmation, because Web2Pop was able to delete Y! Mail without problems. Trying to search the YPOPs forum for the answer at the moment... looks like there's a fix for this... which is interesting since I had this same problem with the program when I tried it over a year ago.
