configuring WINE to run half-life/cstrike is fairly easy.

however, you can only run in software render mode (at least when i tried, which was a while ago). which severely limits the appeal of the game. it does run stable but slow and ugly. so i guess it doesnt run "flawlessly".

**ACTUALLY** it will run in OpenGL if you have an card that supports OpenGL in Linux.

Here is the howto: http://lhl.linuxgames.com/howto/half-life-HOWTO-0.4.1.html

and here is the Linux Half-Life site to get you going..

Once you get it going you can use this GameSpy like program to start it..

I would like to test the OpenGL settings on my Linux boot (Mandrake 8.0), but I have no games that will run under Linux or under Wine. Can you recommend a free OpenGL Linux game for me?

If you installed the "Arcade" games selection... there are a bunch of OpenGL games already installed in Mandrake...

Look for TUXRACER... and maybe even... BZFLAG..
